The Hamilton County Board of Elections is recruiting poll workers for the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election, with independent voters especially needed in Anderson Township precincts.

Ohio law requires that no more than half the workers at any precinct belong to the same political party, according to the state's poll worker training manual. Each precinct must have at least four election officials.

The board also needs registered Republicans in Harrison, Springfield, Springdale, Loveland, Cincinnati and Forest Park, and Democrats in Harrison and Delhi, as WLWT first reported.

The job pays at least $225. That covers training, setup and working the polls on Election Day.

Applicants must be registered voters or at least 17 years old, U.S. citizens, comfortable using technology and able to read, write and speak fluent English. Candidates for office on the ballot at their assigned polling place and convicted felons are ineligible.

Applications are available at votehamiltoncountyohio.gov. The board's office is at 4700 Smith Road, Cincinnati, and can be reached at (513) 946-8500.
