On the issues

The following responses come from Evans' campaign website. They reflect the candidate's own stated positions.

Domestic violence: Evans said the court's administrative judge has changed how domestic violence cases are handled, with the court now considering a victim's mental distress and not just physical injury. She said judicial officers have a working relationship with law enforcement to ensure safety upon service of process, and the court houses a Legal Help Center. Evans said she believes the new approach has saved lives and that she would collaborate with leadership to build on that progress.

Trust and compassion: Evans said that with her childhood experience in the Domestic Relations Court, a career advocating for children and families, and as a mother, she understands the importance of trust and compassion in the court system. She said she would work to earn trust, approach issues with compassion and deliver justice swiftly.

Court efficiency and mediation: Evans said litigation is costly, both financially and emotionally. She said the court's mediation department helps litigants resolve problems without a trial, especially those without attorneys. Evans said she would work to grow the mediation department and expand its reach as judge.
