Anderson Township Park District's free Oktoberfest celebration returns to Beech Acres Park on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The second annual event features live music, craft beer from regional breweries, food from local vendors, wiener dog races and Oktoberfest games, according to the park district's event page. Beech Acres Park is at 6910 Salem Road.
Oktoberfest debuted in September 2025 as part of the park district's 50th anniversary. Last year's lineup included food from LaRosa's Pizzeria, Better Blend, Sweets & Meats BBQ, Snowie Cincinnati, Wandering Monsters and Schmidt's Sausage Haus, according to a recap on amyhoustonteam.com. The 2026 vendor lineup has not been announced.
The festival replaced Anderson Day, a longtime community gathering that had seen declining attendance. Trustee Chair Dee Stone addressed the shift at the Jan. 22 Board of Trustees meeting.
"Anderson Day has been getting smaller each year and the Park District's new event, Oktoberfest, is going to continue," Stone said at that meeting, adding that "the decision was the Park District's decision to make, not the township's."
The park district also saw its operating levy pass in November 2025 with 67 percent voter support, the highest approval rate since the district was founded in 1975, according to amyhoustonteam.com.
Anderson Township promoted the event on Facebook, describing it as a free day of live music, food, craft beer and family activities.
