Turpin High School is one of 77 Ohio schools selected for the Governor's Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research for the 2025-26 school year.

The Forest Hills School District announced the recognition Monday, Oct. 5. The Ohio Academy of Science, which administers the award, selected schools that foster student interest in STEM research.

To qualify, a school must conduct a local science fair with at least 12 students and send two or more to the Regional Science Day. Schools without a local fair must send at least six students to regionals. Qualifying schools must also have students take part in at least one additional youth science opportunity outside regular coursework.

Turpin's science department will receive a Governor's Award certificate. Each science teacher will receive a complimentary membership to the Ohio Academy of Science.

Turpin's sister school, Anderson High School, earned the same award for the 2024-25 school year, when 76 schools statewide were recognized.

The district's next committee meetings are Tuesday, Oct. 13 (Human Resources) and Friday, Oct. 23 (Policy), both at the Central Office Building, 7946 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati.
