Donita Bessent died in a two-vehicle crash on US-52 near 8 Mile Road in Anderson Township on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the scene just after 10 p.m., according to Local 12. Bessent was driving a 2025 Honda CR-V and turning left from 8 Mile Road onto westbound US-52 when she failed to yield, the sheriff's office said. A westbound 2012 Kia struck Bessent's vehicle on the driver's side.
Bessent was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
A 39-year-old man driving the Kia and his wife, who was a passenger, were also transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the sheriff's office. Their conditions have not been updated.
The crash closed US-52 in Anderson Township. An Air Care medical helicopter was called to respond but was later called off, FOX19 reported.
The sheriff's office said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors. The crash remains under investigation.
The intersection of US-52 and 8 Mile Road was the site of another fatal crash on April 27, when 69-year-old Rickie Wilson died after a multi-vehicle collision there, WCPO reported at the time. Wilson was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff's office. Charges were pending against the driver of the other vehicle in that crash.
