Meryck Bogle scored with 7:42 left to give the Mariemont Warriors girls soccer team a 1-0 win over Madeira.
The victory came in the Warriors' Cincinnati Hills League opener Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Kusel Stadium. It was Mariemont's first CHL contest of the 2026 season.
The two teams played a scoreless match for more than 70 minutes before Bogle broke through late. Tom Nerl, Mariemont's certified master athletic administrator, posted live updates from the sideline throughout the game. He captured the decisive moment in a post on X, writing that Bogle found the net with 7:42 remaining to put the Warriors ahead.
@mmontad: "Meryck Bogle rios the net at 742 to go. Warriors on top of the Zons 1-0"
Nerl had called the matchup an "early season firecracker" in a pregame post minutes before the 7 p.m. kickoff. The game lived up to the billing. Bogle's goal proved to be the only one either side would manage.
The shutout gives Mariemont a 1-0 start to CHL play. No other match statistics were available.
Mariemont stays home at Kusel Stadium for its next test: a CHL matchup against rival Turpin on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m., according to the Warriors' schedule. The Spartans opened their season Wednesday with a win over Oak Hills, as we reported Sept. 2.
Saturday's game sets up a matchup between two CHL squads riding early-season momentum. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
