Sam Harding scored twice as Turpin boys soccer shut out Oak Hills 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 1, pushing the Spartans' unbeaten record to 4-0-1 through five games.

Harding, a defender/midfielder wearing No. 10, accounted for two of Turpin's three goals and four of the team's points, according to MaxPreps. Luke Turner, a No. 4 defender, added an assist. The Spartans scored twice in the first half and once in the second.

Turpin controlled the non-conference game, taking 19 shots while goalkeeper Lucas Kelley needed just two saves to record the shutout. Oak Hills dropped to 2-4 on the season.

The win is the latest in a strong opening stretch for head coach Jamie Harloff's squad on the school's brand-new turf field at Spartan Stadium. Turpin opened the year with a 7-0 rout of Batavia on Aug. 14, the first competitive game on the new surface, which was installed over the summer during the school's 50th anniversary year.

"After a slow start they settled in to get the result!" Harloff wrote on Instagram after that Aug. 14 opener against Batavia.

Turpin's only draw came against Kings on Aug. 20, when Harding scored the tying goal with 40 seconds left to salvage a 1-1 result in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference opener. The Spartans followed with a 3-1 win over McNicholas on Aug. 22 and a 3-2 ECC victory over Walnut Hills on Aug. 27.

Harding has been the offensive engine. He netted twice against McNicholas and now has another two-goal game against Oak Hills, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer and MaxPreps match data.

Kelley, meanwhile, has been steady in goal. He made just three saves in the Batavia shutout and two more against Oak Hills, giving up nothing in either game.

@TurpinSpartans: "And the beat goes on!"

The Spartans' athletics account posted that line on X after the final whistle Sept. 1.

Turpin faces Winton Woods in a non-league game Thursday, Sept. 3. The Warriors enter at 3-2.
