A proposed 249-home development on Batavia Road in Anderson Township faces an uncertain path forward after the county planning commission voted unanimously against the rezoning request.

The Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission (HCRPC) voted 5-0 to deny the zoning change for Copper Ridge, a mix of detached single-family homes and attached townhomes planned for 107 acres at 8210 Batavia Road, according to Hoodline. The HCRPC heard the case on Aug. 6.

National homebuilder Maronda Homes, which is headquartered in Pennsylvania but operates a Cincinnati office, is the developer. Cincinnati engineering firm Bayer Becker filed the rezoning application on behalf of Copper Ridge LLC, according to a report by the Cincinnati Business Courier published on the Local 12 website.

The proposal has drawn pushback from the community, according to that report, though specific objections have not been detailed in public records available as of publication.

The Anderson Township zoning board is the next body to hear the case. The township had scheduled a public hearing for Monday, Aug. 24, but cancelled it on Wednesday, Aug. 19. No new hearing date has been announced.

The case is listed as Case 1-2026 Anderson. The zoning board meets at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road.
