Mariemont's boys varsity soccer team shut out Deer Park 9-0 in a Cincinnati Hills League match Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Kusel Stadium.

The nine-goal performance was the Warriors' largest margin of victory this season, topping a 7-0 win over Taylor on Sept. 8 and a 6-0 win at Ross on Aug. 20. Athletic director Tom Nerl posted the final score on X shortly after the match.

No individual goal scorers or assist totals have been released.

The win gave head coach Erik Vanags' squad its second straight victory after a 2-1 result against Oakwood on Saturday, Sept. 26. Mariemont outscored opponents 11-1 across those two matches. Vanags, who led the Warriors to their first boys soccer state championship in 2020, is in his seventh year directing the program.

The back-to-back wins arrived after a difficult stretch. Mariemont lost 0-3 at Wyoming on Sept. 22 and dropped a 1-3 home result to Kings on Sept. 19, sandwiched around a pair of Cincinnati Hills League draws against Madeira and Indian Hill earlier in September. The Warriors opened the season 3-0 with wins over Seven Hills, Ross and Grandview Heights before the schedule stiffened.

Mariemont's overall record now stands at 6-3-2, with a 2-1-2 mark in CHL play, according to MaxPreps. Through 11 games the team has scored 38 goals and allowed 15.

Earlier Tuesday evening, the JV Warriors hosted Roger Bacon at 5 p.m. at Kusel Stadium before the varsity took the field at 7 p.m.

Mariemont returns to Kusel Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 6, for a 7 p.m. CHL match against Reading. The Warriors then host Covington Catholic (Ky.) on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m., travel to Dayton Christian on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m., and host Finneytown in a CHL contest on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
