Turpin shut out West Clermont 1-0 in Eastern Cincinnati Conference girls soccer Tuesday, Sept. 29, at home.

The Spartans' lone goal came in the first half. The defense held from there, keeping the Wolves scoreless through the final whistle and pushing Turpin's overall record to 6-3-2, according to MaxPreps.

West Clermont dropped to 2-11.

The conference win came at a useful time for the Spartans, who entered the match sixth in the ECC with a 2-3-1 conference record, per MaxPreps data last updated Sept. 25.

Season snapshot

Tuesday's result was Turpin's third 1-0 victory this fall. The Spartans also beat Kings 1-0 on Aug. 17 and Madeira 1-0 on Sept. 12.

The season opened with a 3-2 win over Batavia on Aug. 14, followed by the Kings win and back-to-back ties against Archbishop McNicholas (0-0 on Aug. 22) and Walnut Hills (1-1 on Aug. 25). Turpin then beat Mercy McAuley 2-1 on Aug. 29 and routed Winton Woods 7-0 on Sept. 1 before conference play began.

ECC results have been tougher. The Spartans lost to Milford 2-1 on Sept. 8, fell to rival Anderson 2-0 on Sept. 15 and lost at Little Miami 2-1 on Sept. 22 before bouncing back against West Clermont.

JV result

Earlier in the evening, the Turpin JV girls soccer team battled West Clermont to a 2-2 draw, as Turpin Spartans athletics posted on X. The JV match was tied 1-1 at halftime before both sides added a second-half goal.

Both of Turpin's next two matches are ECC conference games. The Spartans travel to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy on Saturday, Oct. 3, for a noon kickoff, then visit Loveland at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
