The Mariemont Warriors rolled to a 49-6 win over Norwood on Friday, Aug. 28, at Kusel Stadium, improving to 2-0.

The home opener doubled as Hall of Fame Night. Five new members were inducted into the Doc Kusel Athletic Hall of Fame during the halftime ceremony: Gerry Storch ('46), Coach Terri Thomas, Coach Steve Peterson, Ian Mikesell ('19) and Myah Giordullo ('21). The Mariemont City Schools district congratulated the five honorees on its Facebook page after the game.

Before kickoff, the inductees and their families gathered for a dinner at the National Exemplar Restaurant, according to the Mariemont athletic department. Tickets to the dinner were available by reservation through the school.

On the field, the Warriors left little doubt. Miami Valley Conference standings confirmed the 49-6 final, and Mariemont Athletic Director Tom Nerl posted on X shortly after the game.

"Warriors down Norwood on Hall of Fame Nite," Nerl wrote, adding that a trip to Williamsburg was next on the schedule.

The rout followed a dominant season opener. Mariemont shut out Clermont Northeastern 33-0 on Aug. 21, a game in which defensive back Chase Raber returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Raber was nominated for the Enquirer's athlete-of-the-week honor after that performance.

Through two games, the Warriors have outscored opponents 82-6. Neither opponent has reached the end zone more than once against Mariemont's defense.

The Warriors head to Williamsburg for a non-conference road game on Friday, Sept. 4, with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Mariemont then returns home to Kusel Stadium on Sept. 11 to host Taylor in a Cincinnati Hills League matchup on Youth Football Night.
