Mariemont erased a two-goal second-half deficit to tie Indian Hill 2-2 in a Cincinnati Hills League match Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The comeback moved the Warriors to 4-1-2 overall and kept them unbeaten in three straight games.

The first half was scoreless.

Mariemont Athletic Director Tom Nerl posted on X that the teams were knotted 0-0 at the break at Indian Hill High School. Indian Hill then struck twice after halftime to take a 2-0 lead before the Warriors answered with two goals of their own to level the match. Nerl confirmed the final result, writing that the Warriors battled back from two-nil to earn the draw.

The equalizing rally fits a pattern for head coach Erik Vanags' squad, which has outscored opponents 26-8 across eight matches this season. Mariemont opened 2026 with three straight wins — 3-0 over Seven Hills, 6-0 over Ross and 5-2 over Grandview Heights — before a 1-2 loss to Archbishop McNicholas on Aug. 29 and a 2-2 draw at Madeira on Sept. 1. A 7-0 rout of Taylor on Sept. 8 preceded the trip to Indian Hill.

Vanags led the Warriors to their first state championship in 2020 and a district title in October 2025. Senior goalkeeper Mitchell Barr, who wears No. 1, starts in net for the 2026 squad. Assistant coaches Jeff Hinebaugh, Colin Petrello and Soren Riber round out the varsity staff.

Mariemont returns home Saturday, Sept. 19, to host Kings High School at Kusel Stadium. The day is designated Coach Barr Day. JV kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and varsity follows at 6:30 p.m. After that, the Warriors travel to Wyoming on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m.
