Mariemont and Terrace Park voters will each decide a local tax levy renewal on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The Hamilton County Board of Elections published its 46-day election notice Monday, Sept. 14, confirming the full ballot for the general election. Mariemont's Ballot Issue 28 would renew a 3.5-mill, five-year levy for permanent improvements. Terrace Park's Ballot Issue 31 would renew a 5.58-mill, five-year levy for current expenses.
Both are renewals of existing levies.
The notice also lists the contested races and statewide questions on area ballots.
State representative races
Anderson Township, Newtown and Terrace Park fall in the 27th Ohio House District, where Republican Nancy Reed Aichholz faces Democrat Rachel Baker. The district covers all Anderson Township precincts, plus Newtown and Terrace Park.
Mariemont sits in the 26th Ohio House District, where Democrat Ashley Bryant Bailey faces Republican Tom Brinkman. Mariemont voters will also see the 9th Ohio Senate District race, with Democrat Catherine Ingram facing Republican Linda D. Matthews.
Voter ID amendment
All Hamilton County voters will weigh in on Ohio Issue 3, a constitutional amendment that would enshrine the state's existing photo ID requirement in the Ohio Constitution. Ohio law has required photo identification to vote since 2023.
The Ohio House passed the measure, Senate Joint Resolution 10, by a 61-27 vote on June 10. State Rep. Adam Bird, a New Richmond Republican, said on the House floor that day it was "a simple proposal that will give (voters) the opportunity to protect the foundations of our constitutional republic …"
Ohio House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn, a Cincinnati Democrat, argued on the House floor that the amendment would not change existing law, according to Ohio Capital Journal reporting.
Under the amendment, valid photo ID would include an unexpired driver's license, state ID card, passport, U.S. military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card or a Department of Veterans Affairs ID card. Voters without photo ID could cast a provisional ballot and provide identification at the board of elections before the counting deadline.
Other races on the ballot
Hamilton County's Ballot Issue 10 asks all county voters to renew a 5.61-mill, four-year levy for children's services.
In the 1st Congressional District, which includes Anderson Township, Newtown and Terrace Park, Republican Eric Conroy faces Democrat Greg Landsman and Libertarian Nathan Weise. Mariemont voters in the 8th Congressional District will choose between Republican Warren Davidson and Democrat Vanessa Enoch.
The statewide ballot includes the governor's race, with Democrat Amy Acton, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Libertarian Don Kissick heading their respective tickets. The U.S. Senate race for an unexpired term features Democrat Sherrod Brown, Republican Jon Husted, Libertarian William B. Redpath and Greg Levy.
Terrace Park voters will also see Ballot Issue 32, a particular-premises Sunday liquor sales question for precinct A.
Registration and voting deadlines
The voter registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 5. The Hamilton County Board of Elections at 4700 Smith Rd. in Cincinnati will be open until 9 p.m. that day, and online registration is available until 11:59 p.m.
Early in-person voting at the board of elections begins Tuesday, Oct. 6. Absentee ballot applications are due by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Election Day polls open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.
