The Cincinnati Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a volunteer-run nonprofit that builds beds for children, must leave its Newtown warehouse by Saturday, Oct. 31 and needs help finding a new home.

Chapter President Todd Forman told Local 12 the landlord has different plans for the building the group currently occupies. The chapter needs 5,000 to 6,000 square feet of warehouse space to replace its current 3,300-square-foot facility and keep building through the winter.

The deadline is firm.

Forman said the chapter must get everything out of the warehouse and "into a new home" by Oct. 31.

Since 2024, the all-volunteer Cincinnati chapter has delivered 1,600 beds to children across the region. The beds range from twin-sized to bunk beds. About 200 to 300 children sit on the chapter's waitlist at any given time.

Forman described deliveries where the beds his volunteers placed were the only furniture in the home. Children on the waitlist had been sleeping on the floor.

The chapter holds build events where 40 to 50 volunteers assemble roughly 50 beds in about two hours. Forman said he does not want to pause operations during the search for a new space, because children on the waitlist cannot wait.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national nonprofit with more than 400 chapters. The Cincinnati chapter launched in 2024 and is entirely volunteer-run, relying on donated funds for tools and materials.

The chapter's website confirms it is actively seeking warehouse space and monetary donations.
