The Turpin Spartans girls golf team tees off against Walnut Hills at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Sharon Woods Golf Club in Sharonville for an Eastern Cincinnati Conference matchup.
It's the Spartans' third competitive outing of the young fall season.
Turpin opened Aug. 5 at the ECC Pre-Season Championship at Walden Ponds Golf Club, then played the Forest Hills Invite on Monday, Aug. 10. Scores from those events have not been publicly posted, but the quick turnaround means the Spartans have played three times in eight days to start the year.
Walnut Hills arrives with an even busier early schedule. The Eagles opened with a win over Hamilton on Aug. 3, shooting 169 to Hamilton's 227 at Losantiville Country Club, according to the Walnut Hills athletics schedule. They followed that with four events in four days: the Sycamore Invitational (Aug. 4), the ECC Preseason Tournament (Aug. 5), the Dog Days of Summer Invitational (Aug. 6) and a match at Ursuline Academy (Aug. 7). Wednesday's match marks their sixth outing in 10 days.
Both squads competed in the ECC Pre-Season Championship field on Aug. 5, giving each program a look at conference-level competition before Wednesday's head-to-head.
The Walnut Hills athletics news page ran the headline "WALNUT HILLS GIRLS GOLF IS MAKING A STATEMENT" ahead of the match, a nod to the Eagles' aggressive early-season schedule.
Sharon Woods Golf Club, a neutral site in Sharonville, hosts the 3:10 p.m. first tee. The match was announced on goturpin.com, Turpin's official athletics site. Turpin's next scheduled competition beyond Wednesday has not yet been posted; check goturpin.com for updated results and schedule additions.
