The Turpin Spartans girls tennis team hosts Lakota East on Monday, Aug. 24, in a non-conference matchup at Turpin High School. The Spartans come in after a 2025 season that ended in the Division I OTCA Team Tournament semifinals.

Coach Gail Maundrell's squad went 14-2 last year and defeated Hudson, Jackson and Solon on its way to the Final Four, according to the program's preseason outlook. That run marked the deepest postseason finish in recent program history.

Junior Alyssa Dittmann anchors the 2026 roster. She posted a 13-1 record at first singles in 2025, a stat the Cincinnati Enquirer highlighted in its preseason area preview published Friday, Aug. 7. Dittmann leads a returning core that includes Schweikert, Dunkle, Baldasare, Boberschmidt and Waits.

The opponent brings size. Lakota East, coached by Cindy Strahan, is a Division I program out of the Greater Miami Conference in Liberty Township. The Thunderhawks compete in one of the state's largest athletic conferences, giving Turpin a measuring-stick matchup outside its Eastern Cincinnati Conference schedule.

The Spartans have already been busy. Turpin traveled to Walnut Hills on Thursday, Aug. 20, and visited Summit Country Day on Saturday, Aug. 22, before returning home for Monday's match. Results from those outings were not posted on the school's athletics page as of Monday morning.

No start time is listed for the Lakota East match.

Turpin competes in the ECC and is classified Division I by the OHSAA. The postseason calendar looms: sectional tournaments begin Sept. 28, districts run Oct. 6–11 and the state tournament is set for Oct. 15–16 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
