Turpin (3-4, 3-3 ECC) hosts Lebanon (6-1, 5-1 ECC) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, with the Spartans sitting two spots outside the OHSAA Division II, Region 8 playoff cutline.

Turpin is tied for 14th in the region's computer ratings with a 5.8643 mark, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The top 12 teams qualify for the postseason. With two regular-season games left after Friday, the Spartans have little margin for error.

Lebanon is ranked fifth in Division I, Region 4 with a 14.0286 rating. The Warriors' only loss came against Anderson, the top-ranked team in Division II, Region 8.

The Warriors have won three straight.

Last week

Turpin fell 66-21 at Anderson on Oct. 2 in the Forest Hills School District rivalry game, as WCPO reported. Turpin quarterback Will Schmittauer threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to CJ Elliott and a 30-yard TD pass to Camden Kieft. Schmittauer also scored on a 20-yard rushing touchdown.

Lebanon beat Milford 39-29 in its most recent outing. Senior running back Loga Schmenk posted his third 200-yard rushing game of the season, carrying 30 times for 256 yards and two touchdowns, according to Stateline Sports Network. Lebanon kicker Logan Lane added a school-record 53-yard field goal.

Turpin's season so far

Head coach Rob Stoll returned to the Turpin sideline this season after a 10-year hiatus. Stoll is a Turpin Hall of Famer and the program's all-time winningest coach with 123 victories, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Spartans have scored 202 points and allowed 228 through seven games. Their three wins came against Walnut Hills (43-19), Loveland (42-21) and West Clermont (55-19). Losses came against Archbishop McNicholas (31-10), Little Miami (27-24), Winton Woods (45-7) and Anderson (66-21).

What's next

After Friday's game, Turpin travels to Kings on Friday, Oct. 16, then closes the regular season at home against Milford on Friday, Oct. 23. Game information is available at Turpin's website.
