Anderson Township and Cincinnati firefighters extinguished a construction fire at the Farmer Music Center site on Kellogg Avenue on Wednesday, containing the blaze in under an hour with no injuries and an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The fire call came in just after 2:06 p.m. at the 6200 block of Kellogg Avenue, where the $160 million venue is under construction on the former Coney Island site. Cincinnati Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Craig Coburn told the Cincinnati Enquirer that workers were welding when a flame caught onto the building's insulation. The fire was extinguished between 2:45 and 3 p.m.

Eight firetrucks, including a heavy rescue unit, were dispatched by Cincinnati Fire, and Anderson Township Fire Department sent a one-alarm unit. At least five ambulances staged on scene, though no one required medical treatment.

Messer Construction, the project's general contractor, said roofing materials caught fire. Spokesperson Joanna Masterson said the company appreciates the first responders who assisted on site.

"Safety is Messer's top priority on every project, and we appreciate the first responders who assisted onsite," Masterson said.

Kellogg Avenue was temporarily closed during the response. WLWT reported that Riverbend Music Center, which sits adjacent to the construction site, said the road was expected to reopen shortly.

The Anderson Township Fire Department has not released a separate statement about the incident. Fire Chief Richard Martin's office had not responded to inquiries as of Wednesday afternoon.

Construction is expected to resume Thursday, July 30.
