Anderson Township, Mariemont, Newtown and Terrace Park face a 25-degree temperature swing over the next six days. Highs could reach the mid-80s Tuesday, Oct. 13, then drop below 60 by Saturday, Oct. 17.
FOX19 meteorologist Brad Maushart declared several First Alert Weather Days for the Tri-State area in a forecast published Monday, Oct. 12. Tuesday's highs are expected to reach the mid-80s with southwest gusts of 20 to 25 mph.
"That's unusually warm for the middle of October," Maushart said.
The warm stretch ends Wednesday, Oct. 14, when spotty storms could develop in the morning and stronger thunderstorms are possible later in the day. Highs will still reach the low 80s. Thursday, Oct. 15, brings another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with patchy fog possible early, especially south of downtown Cincinnati.
A strong cold front arrives Friday, Oct. 16. Northwest wind gusts could reach 35 to 40 mph or higher behind the front. Temperatures may touch the low 70s early before falling sharply. Maushart advised residents to secure Halloween inflatables, lightweight outdoor decorations and unsecured furniture ahead of the gusts.
The wind could also affect outdoor events. Country singer Brantley Gilbert's "Real American Tour" stop at PNC Pavilion, 6295 Kellogg Ave. in Anderson Township, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
Saturday's high may not reach 60 degrees. Overnight lows could dip into the upper 30s, setting the stage for the season's first frost Sunday morning, Oct. 18, particularly in colder outlying communities. No National Weather Service frost advisory had been issued as of Monday, Oct. 12.
Maushart said residents with sensitive plants or lingering garden vegetables should prepare to protect them before the weekend.
Sunday afternoon is forecast to be dry and cool with highs near 63 degrees. Temperatures are expected to recover gradually early the following week, though a few additional shower chances remain in the extended outlook.
What to do before the weather turns:
- Secure Halloween decorations and lightweight outdoor furniture by Thursday evening.
- Cover or bring in frost-sensitive plants and remaining garden vegetables before Saturday night.
- Check on outdoor event plans for the Oct. 16–18 weekend, including the Brantley Gilbert concert at PNC Pavilion on Friday evening.
