Anderson Township is looking for a full-time planner to join the team shaping land use, zoning, and development across the community.

The Planner I position, posted Thursday, pays $22 to $26 per hour depending on qualifications. Applications are due by Thursday, August 6.

The new hire will work under Planning and Zoning Director Paul Drury, assisting with land use planning, zoning administration, code enforcement, project management and customer service at the department's front desk and by phone.

Day-to-day duties include processing zoning applications and certificates, conducting zoning inspections, responding to information requests, supporting zoning-related committees and GIS mapping.

The timing matters. The opening comes as the department is in the middle of a major undertaking: updating the township's Comprehensive Plan for the fifth time since the original was adopted in 2005. That process involves community visioning meetings, pop-up booths at local events and online feedback options, according to a township newsletter.

The township's official posting noted that Anderson Township is known for its greenspace preservation initiatives, its Anderson Trails program, and recent efforts to develop "Downtown Anderson." Those physical planning efforts, the posting said, have accompanied quality-of-life and event offerings that have strengthened the community's character.

Who should apply

Candidates need at least a bachelor's degree in planning or a related field, or must be within three months of completing one. The posting asks for at least one year of planning experience, including internships, or three years in a similar role. A master's degree can substitute for formal planning experience. Prior local government experience is preferred, and a valid driver's license is required.

What the job offers

Beyond the hourly pay, the benefits package includes paid time off, paid holidays, a flexible or hybrid work schedule and tuition assistance for professional development.

How to apply

Interested applicants should send a cover letter and resume to Suzanne Parker, assistant township administrator for human resources, by Thursday, August 6. Materials can be submitted by email to [email protected] or by U.S. mail to Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road, Cincinnati, OH 45230.
