Anderson Township residents can comment on a proposed comprehensive plan update at a public hearing Nov. 16.

The Zoning Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road, according to the Anderson Township Zoning Commission’s agenda. Planning and Zoning staff filed the proposal as Case 2-2026 LUP on behalf of township trustees.

Housing, preservation and commercial areas

The township’s proposed plan revisions call for broader housing choices, reinvestment in commercial areas and protection of community assets.

Housing proposals include zoning changes to allow accessory dwelling units, middle housing and age-friendly options. Those are proposed planning recommendations, rather than zoning changes already in effect.

The draft also proposes a Historic Building Preservation and Reuse Toolkit to help owners rehabilitate and reuse significant buildings. It calls for evaluating protections for significant trees and preserving greenspace.

Trustees have reviewed the draft

Trustees reviewed a draft at an Oct. 5 special meeting, according to Anderson Township’s meeting minutes. The discussion covered seven guiding principles, including housing choice, commercial areas, mobility and infrastructure.

The revised Nov. 5 trustees’ agenda listed a resolution to initiate adoption of the update. That Board of Township Trustees agenda does not establish whether the resolution passed.
