Little Dry Run Road in Anderson Township remains closed between Williams Creek Drive and Wycliffe Drive after a motor vehicle accident damaged the roadway, and no reopening timeline has been announced.

The road is still shut.

Anderson Township posted the closure notice on its government website on Tuesday, Aug. 18, authored by assistant township administrator for operations Steve Sievers. The notice stated the road would likely remain closed through the end of that day "and possibly longer, for repairs."

That target date has passed. As of Wednesday, Aug. 19, no follow-up notice appeared on the township's news page, and the original posting remains the only official word on the closure.

The township has not released details about the crash itself, including when it occurred, how many vehicles were involved, or whether anyone was injured. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, which patrols Anderson Township, has not issued a public statement on the incident.

A busy stretch near Wilson Elementary

The closed segment of Little Dry Run sits in a corridor the township has invested in for pedestrian safety. A pedestrian-activated crosswalk warning signal was installed near Wilson Elementary School in 2024, and a sidewalk project on the north side of Little Dry Run connecting Lawyer Road to the school was identified as a high-priority item in the Anderson Trails Plan.

The closure is unrelated to the storm-caused road shutdowns that affected Anderson Township after the Aug. 12-13 storms. As we reported Aug. 16, several storm-damaged roads have since reopened, though Mt. Carmel Road remained closed at that time.

What residents should know

Drivers who use Little Dry Run between Williams Creek Drive and Wycliffe Drive should plan alternate routes until the township posts an update. The township said it would share new information as it becomes available.
