Mariemont's varsity boys golf team opens Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II sectional play Monday, Sept. 21, in the Warriors' first postseason test of the fall.

The seven-player roster features seniors Ethan Hern and Ben McClorey alongside junior Dean Niemeyer, who shot a 37 to lead Mariemont past Wyoming in a Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) match at The Mill Course on Sept. 8.

Freshman Grady Hurt has emerged as one of the Warriors' most productive golfers. He earned team medalist honors at the Bob Darwin Invitational on Sept. 5, where Mariemont finished 14th out of 20 teams. Sam Alter, Connor McCoy and Cam Spreen complete the roster, according to the Mariemont Warriors Athletics website.

The roster has turned over since 2025. Owen Sleeper and Quinn McGahey appeared in the Sept. 8 CHL lineup but are no longer listed on the official roster page. Max Dougherty and Durham Lauch, both on the 2025 squad, are also absent.

Hern carries postseason experience. He advanced as an individual qualifier from the 2025 Division II sectional at The Mill Course, according to Ohio.golf. The Warriors as a team did not advance in 2025, finishing behind Roger Bacon, Cincinnati CHCA, New Richmond and Wyoming.

Mariemont went 3-4 overall and 1-1 in CHL play during the 2025 season. This fall, Niemeyer's 37 against Wyoming avenged a 175-191 loss to the Cowboys at Wyoming Country Club in 2025. Mariemont Athletic Director Tom Nerl called the Sept. 8 win an important CHL victory for the program.

Nerl posted a good-luck message for the team on X ahead of Monday's sectional.

The Warriors hosted the CHL Preview at The Mill Course on Aug. 10 and a tri-match there on Aug. 26 earlier this season. The Mill Course has served as Mariemont's home venue for league play.

Results from Monday's sectional will determine whether any Warriors advance to the OHSAA district tournament.
