Sleep in Heavenly Peace, the nonprofit that builds and delivers beds for children in need, has found a new warehouse after being told to leave its Newtown location by Oct. 31.

The Cincinnati chapter announced Thursday, Sept. 24 that it secured a new space, though it did not disclose the address. The group must vacate its current Newtown warehouse by the end of October after the landlord decided to use the building for other purposes, chapter president Todd Forman told WKRC in August.

The chapter maintains a waitlist of 200 to 300 children waiting for beds and had planned to build roughly 150 more beds through the rest of the year.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit with more than 400 chapters across the country. The Cincinnati chapter launched in 2024 and has built and delivered more than 1,600 beds to children in Hamilton County and Northern Kentucky since then. The organization is entirely volunteer-run.

The current Newtown warehouse spans about 3,300 square feet. Forman told WKRC on Aug. 27 the chapter was looking for 5,000 to 6,000 square feet to accommodate growth. He told FOX19 the same day the chapter envisioned the new space as a community volunteer center for indoor bed builds, meetings and delivery staging.

"Central Cincinnati, where a lot of our volunteers come from, Blue Ash, Reading, Woodlawn, all those areas are where we're kind of hoping for, but since we're racing against the deadline we can't be too picky," Forman said in the Aug. 27 FOX19 interview.

FC Cincinnati hosted a bed-building event at TQL Stadium on March 28, where volunteers assembled 50 beds for children in the West End. A typical build event brings together 40 to 50 volunteers who can produce about 50 beds in two hours.

The chapter has not announced a move-in date or when operations will resume at the new location.

What's ahead: The Oct. 31 deadline to leave the Newtown warehouse is the next milestone. The new warehouse address has not yet been disclosed.
