The Turpin Spartans girls tennis team faces Ursuline Academy on Monday, Aug. 17, in the team's fourth match in five playing days to open the 2026 fall season.
Coach Gail Maundrell's group enters the matchup carrying momentum from a breakthrough 2025 campaign that ended with a 14-2 record and a Division I OTCA Team Tournament Final Four appearance. Turpin knocked off Hudson, Jackson and Solon on its way to the state semifinals last fall.
Junior Alyssa Dittmann anchors the lineup at first singles after posting a 13-1 record at that position in 2025, a performance that earned her a mention in the Cincinnati Enquirer's preseason area preview published Aug. 7. Dittmann is joined by returning players Schweikert, Dunkle, Baldasare, Boberschmidt and Waits, according to Ohio Tennis Zone's roster page.
The Spartans opened the season at Seven Hills School on Aug. 11, then faced Mount Notre Dame on Aug. 12 and visited Cincinnati Country Day on Saturday, Aug. 15. Monday's home match against Ursuline marks the fourth contest in five playing days for the Eastern Cincinnati Conference program.
Ursuline Academy fields a varsity tennis program and appears on multiple area schedules this month, including dates against Sycamore and Lebanon later in August.
Turpin is classified Division I by the OHSAA. Sectional tournaments begin Sept. 28, with the state tournament set for Oct. 15–16 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
As reported Aug. 11, the Spartans entered 2026 as one of the Cincinnati area's top Division I contenders. Monday's match against Ursuline is the latest early-season test for a program aiming to return to the state tournament.
Match results are expected Tuesday, Aug. 18.
