Loveland swept Turpin's varsity volleyball team in three sets Wednesday, Sept. 16, handing the Spartans a home loss that dropped them to 4-4 in Eastern Cincinnati Conference play.

The Tigers controlled the first two sets 25-14 and 25-15 before Turpin pushed the third set to extra points. Loveland held on 27-25 to complete the sweep, according to ECC standings updated Thursday. The loss came one night after Turpin's varsity had beaten West Clermont in straight sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19, on Sept. 15.

JV sweeps Loveland

Turpin's junior varsity squad provided the bright spot of the evening. The JV beat Loveland in two sets, 25-13 and 25-15.

The Turpin Spartans athletics account posted the final score on X with a quick celebration.

Freshman fall in two

The freshman team opened the night's action and lost in straight sets, 15-25 and 4-25. Turpin managed 15 points in the first set. The second set was 4-25.

Season-series context

The Sept. 16 results reversed the outcome from the teams' first meeting Aug. 25 at Loveland. In that match, Turpin's freshman squad won 2-0 and the JV lost a tight three-set match with a deciding set of 22-25, according to the Turpin athletics account.

ECC standings

Turpin sits at 4-4 in ECC play and 4-9 overall as of Thursday, Sept. 17. Loveland improved to 6-2 in conference and 8-5 overall, good for third in the ECC behind Kings (7-0, 9-3) and Milford (5-1, 6-2).

Turpin's next volleyball match had not been posted to the school's athletics site as of Thursday.
