Turpin's girls tennis team carries a 15-1 record into the Eastern Cincinnati Conference tournament Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the ATP facility in Mason.

The Spartans closed the regular season with four straight wins. They beat Kings 5-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, topped Seton 3-2 on Monday, Sept. 21, swept the Coaches Classic 5-0 on Saturday, Sept. 19, and beat Milford 4-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to ECC standings.

Sophomore Makayla Malone was unbeaten in first singles through at least Sept. 20, a streak the Cincinnati Enquirer highlighted in a Sept. 21 athlete-of-the-week ballot. The ballot also credited the first-doubles pair of Miyla Dunkle and Ella Schwikert, who went 5-1 in league play, for putting Turpin "in the driver's seat for an ECC title."

Anderson enters the tournament at 15-3.

Walnut Hills is the defending tournament champion, according to eccsports.com. Results from Wednesday's event had not been posted as of publication. OHSAA sectional play begins the week of Monday, Sept. 28, with sectional finals set for Saturday, Oct. 3.
